Photographic Style
I have explored many avenues of expression for my photography. I have taken wedding photographs, I have done portraiture, macro flower photography, and I have taken hundreds of travel photos. I have used color film, black and white, infrared film, as well as digital cameras with no film.
I have found the most satisfaction however , using black and white film in either a 35 mm camera or a medium format camera. I do all of my own darkroom work, I matte my own photographs, and I even design and build the frame, if desired. My favorite subjects are usually related to architecture or landscapes. I especially enjoy hand coloring the resulting images using lithographic inks.
When I hand color a photo, I do not want it to look like the subject that was photographed. I want it to look like the subject as it might be remembered.
I enjoy requests to document architectural or natural features for posterity. For example, I have documented a ranch and buildings that were significant in a family's history, a 100+ year old bridge that was about to be scrapped, and I have documented a city pedestrian park which was about to yield to a new road.
My objective is quality, not quantity. The results of my work are pieces of fine art, appropriate for framing and display. I try to preserve memories in images of silver to share.
